Conservation and conversion

Home Farm, Berkswell

Part of the Berkswell Estate, this courtyard of red brick and plain tile Victorian farm buildings had become run down and redundant. A scheme was approved to give them a new future as small business units which involved sensitively designed small extensions, alterations and conversion.

Whilst preserving the character of the building, it was still possible to create a good working environment. The scheme is now fully thermally insulated and heated from a shared heating scheme.

Conservation & Restoration

Many projects involve existing buildings, often listed for their historic value. Finding new uses for redundant old buildings gives them a future as well as a past, whether its a light touch or a sensitive conversion.

Part of this process is the need to understand and evaluate the history and heritage before alteraton and adaptation is carried out. Reusing and upgrading existing buildings to meet current standards is a sustainable approach

Coleshill Hall Farm, GradeII Listed  Country Hotel Proposal

Conservation

Coleshill Hall Farmhouse.

Having been redundant for many years and damaged by vandals this listed country house, coach house and stables needed a new use to save it.

Many schemes were considered with the most suitable being the creation of a Hotel. A new wing was to be added providing 40 bedrooms,  the listed building being converted and restored for the reception and dining facilities.

Unfortunately the project halted with the announcement and route of the HS2 railway passing directly over.
